Read More about Robin's Story...

Prior to serving First Baptist Church, Robin worked as the manager of the McAllen campus for South Texas School of Christian Studies (SCS), a higher education theological education institute for 3 years.  She was also a student with SCS through the Logsdon Seminary School of Hardin Simmons University, where she obtained her Masters of Family Ministry.  Prior to that, Robin achieved her Bachelors of Arts in Business with a minor in Computer Science from Lamar University.

Robin is the wife of Scott Wiley, who she married in 2005.  Scott has been a teacher for the past twenty-four years, with the past twenty years being with S. Texas ISD with Science Academy as an AP physic’s teacher.  Their only daughter, Hannah, who is from a prior marriage, is currently starting her junior year at Texas A&M in College Station in biomedicine in fall 2017.

Robin has a unique background as she came from the secular world – where she spent the past twenty years working for a global multinational risk management, insurance brokerage and advisory company in human resources.  Even though she was active in her church, First Baptist Weslaco, for many years since moving to the Valley, she felt God calling her into the ministry.  She started attending seminary school in 2011 on a part-time basis while still working for the consulting company and eventually left in December 2013 to pursue ministerial options. She started working for SCS in January 2014 and eventually became the manager for the McAllen campus.

Robin is very passionate about family ministry, especially counseling, which is a large part of her ministry at First Baptist. She believes working to help families strengthen their relationships is a mission God has ordained her to follow. Robin fervently follows the Apostle Paul’s instruction in Thessalonians to “encourage one another and build each other up” within the Familia of Faith at First Baptist as well as in the community. Robin enjoys working with the youth and families along side the other ministries offered in the church.

Some other interesting points on Robin and her family’s story:

  • Robin and Scott graduated Weslaco High School together, and while Robin had a huge crush on Scott – they did not date until 2004 when Scott contacted her out of the blue. They were married seven months later.
  • The Wiley family loves football season – especially the Dallas Cowboys!
  • Robin and Scott love the outdoors and like to hike, ride bikes or jog any chance they get together.
